Handy things!

- Automatic Updates being annoying (restart now/restart later)?
Create a .bat file (open notepad, write this stuff, save it as .bat and file type 'All Files') with the following code:
@ECHO OFF
NET STOP wuauserv
This stops the Automatic Updates service.
- Location of the Quick Start bar programs:
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
- Handy Add-on for FireFox: DownloadThemAll!
Very, very handy.
You can download stuff from a website based on filters (.exe, .zip, .whatever)
Quite useful when you are in a .pdf http directory and you want to download all documents.
Updating your IP's
[b]- If you have manually reserved (through the router's page -> LAN IP Setup) or changed your computer(s)' IP address(es) that might be behind a router and you are not seeing your IP changing when you do ipconfig, then you have to do the following for your IP's to be updated:
ipconfig /release (will put everything on 0)
ipconfig /renew (will update everything with the new values)
The good thing is, no reboots needed!
Nice FireFox Add-ons
- AdBlock Plus: keep those ads away!
- NoScript: keep the crap away! (only recommended for people who are good with computers =P because it blocks domains and sites and parts of site and stuff)
- Webmail Notifier: Nice for checking your mail without much problems or logging in!
Hostsman: Keep those ads away! Very handy program that stops ads before Windows even connects to the internet! They don't have a chance! =D
Very handy ad blocking system, using your hosts file.
Blocks a lot of crap, such as yieldmanager.com, ad.*.com, etc.
Better to disable access to ads than to wait for an ad half way around the world to load!
Have Windows x86 use 4 GB of RAM you have!
Normally, Windows x86 systems have the PAE limitation (Physical Address Extension),
so they only recognize max. 2 GB.
You can however, instruct the kernel to extend the addresses by adding the
/PAE switch to your OS entry boot.ini. ^^ yaay
Problem fixed.
Will be updated with new stuff when I come to think of it. =P

This is a very nice JavaScript/DHTML based engine addon for FireFox so that one can for example control what's displayed on a page... like.. you want to ignore someone on a forum but the forum doesn't have the ignore function, so you simply choose with this plugin to not display his shit. =D YAY!
Greasemonkey
